1/20/15 – Mindfulness


During the Whole Life Challenge there are new weekly life style practices to incorporate into your daily routine. This weeks practice is mindfulness.

Mindfulness is “the intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of one’s attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment”

Now, for the challenge it requires for 10 minutes a day for you to meditate or pray. Even writing in a journal is an acceptable form of mindfulness. My form of mindfulness yesterday came while I was at the gym vacuuming and mopping. I was just about done moping the floors yesterday afternoon when all of a sudden I started smiling. I was hit with such a positive force of energy I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear. Maybe it was the positive vibes that were still radiating in the building from Saturdays baseline workout for the challenge. Maybe it was the fact that everybody has had such a positive response to this challenge and accepted this 8-weeks head on ready to make changes in their life. Whatever it was, I felt at peace. It was an amazing feeling. As I stood there, mop in hand. Everything felt right.

Being able to experience things like this with all of you makes me super grateful for the outstanding community we have here at The Coalition. It’s truly an honor to be a part of it with all of you. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You all push me to become a better version of myself on the daily. For that, I thank you all.

My moments of mindfulness are shared with each and every single one of you every day. I couldn’t think of a better place for that to happen. Thank you.

Workout of the Day

A. Five sets of:
Jerk (From Rack) 1- 2 reps
-Rest 2-3 minutes-
For time:
21 Burpees
15 Thrusters 115/75
9 Chest to Bar Pull-Ups
800 Meter Run
9 Chest to Bar Pull-Ups
15 Thrusters
21 Burpees
