5/18/15 – Mammoth Bar – WLC Week 3: Practice A Skill

You can earn your lifestyle points this week by practicing a skill or engage in a hobby for at least 10 minutes every day. You can take up a new skill or practice one you are currently working on. It can be and skill you choose—like shooting free throws, speaking a foreign language, cooking, jumping rope, or even listening in conversations rather than talking! You can also engage in a hobby—like playing an instrument, knitting, playing chess, reading, or gardening. You don’t have to do the same thing every day, but remember, the more consistent you are with one thing, the better you’re going to get. On the other hand, this may be a week to explore things you’ve always wanted to try.

Lets use this time to have some fun. Whatever it is you decide to practice shouldn’t be something that is going to frustrate you. Make sure you’re having a good time with whatever it is you chose to do and you have a smile on your face.

We started Mammoth Bar with the unwavering belief that our health should never have to surrender to the speed and convenience of the modern world. Each Mammoth Bar we make is created with this battle cry in mind. We chose the woolly mammoth to represent our brand because we doubt this legendary creature was doing much surrendering back in the day, and we tend to like that attitude.

We (co-founders Mike and Anthony) originally met while playing football in Southern California. After college, we reconnected in the Bay Area and not long after launched Mammoth Bar. Not only do we share the same birthday, but we also share a passion for healthy living. We are both ardent followers of the Paleo diet (minus the occasional beer) and have an affinity for high-quality food products that naturally fuel a high-energy lifestyle.

After searching for a portable snack that met the high standards of the Paleo diet, we soon realized that our options were limited. It was either a gluten-laced bomb, sugar-loaded dessert, or only slightly better, a “healthy” nut bar that tasted like cardboard – seriously. This was the impetus for starting Mammoth Bar – a belief that people have a right to demand more from the products that they consume.

Mammoth Bar will be here on Tuesday, May 19th, in the afternoon to give out samples of these amazing bars! All of their flavors are amazing. Lauren and my favorite one is the macadamia nut. It’s very very tasty!

Workout of the Day

A. Two sets of:
Jerk Footwork Drills x 10 perfect reps

B.Every two minutes, for 10 minutes (5 sets):
Jerk – 1 rep
*Keep all five sets between 70-90%
+
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 8 minutes of:
10 Shoulder to Overhead 135/95
50 Double Unders
